Marci and Me was created in November 2016 to share not only my trials and errors of being a homemaker, wife, and mom, but also a place of inspiration for all things DIY, food, faith, and more! I hope this blog has something in it for each of you and that you too will learn how to live a Real. Simple. Life.
Our story began in April 2016 when my husband, Josh, and I married and wanted to start a family. After many obstacles with Endometriosis, we did not expect our family to grow as soon as it did. The Lord had other plans though, as we ended up getting pregnant on our HONEYMOON! We were beyond elated and overjoyed! We soon started envisioning what our life would be like in just 9 short months.
I had just graduated with my Bachelor’s degree and we had just moved from Houston, TX to Oklahoma City, OK in December of 2015. After moving and getting married our plan was for me to find a job where I could use my new college degree. In the meantime I was working a seasonal job when we found out that I was pregnant. Severe morning sickness pushed me to bed rest and I ended up leaving the seasonal position I had. Finally, after I had gotten cleared by my doctor, I was able to start looking for jobs again. A few weeks passed by and in my 13th week of pregnancy, after a horrific trip to the ER, we got diagnosed with a large Subchorionic Hematoma (a blood clot around the gestational sac, you can read more about that under my Motherhood tab). I was once again put on strict bed rest for an unknown amount of time and with uncertainty that our sweet baby would even make it.
So there we were, a newly married couple with college debt, a Bachelor’s degree I couldn’t do anything with, one income, and a baby on the way. To say we were stressed would be an understatement, but we knew the Lord had a special plan for us if we just trusted in Him!
After years of people telling me that they wanted my recipes or that they wanted to know how I created a special craft or DIY project, I got the idea to start a blog. When I got put on bed rest, I wished there was a way I could start my blog but I had no idea how I would afford the start up costs when we were barely scraping by. My family knew how bad I wanted to raise a family and be a stay at home mom and after hearing us talk about the plans I had for this blog, they took a chance and invested in me and this wonderful little webspace.
Everyday I pray that as I start this blog that it would 1) please the Lord and let others see Him through me 2) make my daughter proud of me and 3) eventually be a source of income for my family, allowing me to stay at home and raise our future children like I had always dreamed of.
When I started really playing around with ideas for my blog and my blog name, I knew I wanted to somehow incorporate the blessing God had given us, our sweet baby girl Marci Ann. We knew we had a fighter on our hands week after week, appointment after appointment. I knew I had to fight to find a way to make my dreams of being a SAHM possible for her and I.
My hope for you is that every time you visit Marci and Me that you find the inspiration you are looking for. I hope that through my personal trials and triumphs, you too realize that a Real. Simple. Life. is possible!
